CTO LONE STAR HERITAGE MUSIC SCHOLORSHIP APPLICATION
(For all Buckaroos!) It is the intent of Cowtown Opry to award up to five $100 awards (scholarships), per year, to qualified applicants. The scholarships will be presented at the annual Awards Round Up. The Cowtown Opry Scholarship Selection Committee will select winners from the qualified applicants. All awards are given each year at the Texas Independence Day Gala, on March 6th. Deadline to submit the application is Sunday, February 12th, 2012. Musical Scholarships: Qualified applicants must be in good standing with at least one year in the Buckaroo program. (Good standing is defined as having attended a minimum of 12 Cowtown Opry events including Buckaroo Sundays, parades, the annual Gala, a CTO sponsored music & yodeling clinic, special community performances, or other sponsored event per year.) Each applicant will be responsible for keeping an attendance record and participation dates must be listed on the application. Recipients will have a choice of the following musical awards: a) $150 gift certificate to The Music Centre in Azle, Texas, to be used towards the purchase of instrument, repairs, lessons, etc. b) $150 grant for five yodeling lessons with Janet McBride and a complete set of accompaniment track cassettes. c) $150 scholarship towards lessons on an acoustic string or reed instrument. Check will be written to the instructor or school. College Scholarships: A $500 scholarship will be made available to one qualified high school senior going to college. Qualified applicants must be in good standing with at least four years in the Buckaroo program. (Good standing is defined as having attended a minimum of 12 Cowtown Opry events including Buckaroo Sundays, parades, the annual Gala, Yodeling Clinic or other sponsored event per year.) Each applicant will be responsible for keeping an attendance record and participation dates must be listed on the application. Applicant will receive grant money on enrolling and being accepted in a four year university or a community college.
