                           The Cowtown Opry Buckaroo Club

The Buckaroo program was established in 1997 to mentor youngsters to learn and perform Texas heritage music
.

 

Each year Cowtown Opry presents a music scholastic scholarship to one or more buckaroos. The only requirements are for the buckaroo to perform at 12 Opry events the previous year.

Several instrumentalists assist with mentoring.

The club meets on the 2nd Sunday each month.

Group members can meet with Janet McBride for yodeling instruction.
Participants gather to receive western music history lessons, advice and practice on acoustic performance. During the second hour, the group performs
outdoors on the steps of the Livestock Exchange Bldg. at 131 E. Exchange Ave.

                                     Rules of the Corral

1. A willingness to learn cowboy / western / Texas music and lore.

Songs must be wholesome, age-appropriate, and have a Texas connection.

 

2. Buckaroos must wear western attire for group functions, known as “The CTO Colors”

long sleeved white shirt
blue denims
red bandana
western boots & hat

 

3. Buckaroos must join the Cowtown Opry

$25 per year for individual
$40 for group or family
first time visitors are exempt from dues
